Before their first session

Everything you need to know before coming along.

A new sport starts with a few questions. We’re here to help.

Does my child need any volleyball experience?

Not at all! New Kids on the Court is designed for beginners, including children who have never played volleyball before. Sessions introduce the fundamentals through fun activities and beginner-level coaching.

What will my child actually do during the session?

They’ll try basic volleyball skills such as passing, serving, ball control and movement, alongside activities that encourage teamwork and participation.

Who will be coaching the sessions?

The New Kids coaching team are nationally registered, qualified coaches with Enhanced DBS certifications. VbDC has safeguarding policies in place, and sessions follow a curriculum designed for beginners.

What should my child wear or bring?

Please wear loose-fitting, comfortable sportswear and suitable indoor sports shoes. Bring a water bottle and arrive dressed to take part. Specialist volleyball kit is not required.

Do we need to book the full four-week programme?

No. A single-session taster costs £20, so your child can try volleyball before deciding whether to attend more sessions.

What if my child is nervous about trying a new sport?

These sessions are designed for beginners, so children don’t need to know how to play. The focus is on introducing volleyball through approachable activities and participation.

What should we do when we arrive?

Please accompany your child to the sports hall to complete their enrolment. The team can answer any questions about the session when you arrive.

Where and when are the sessions?

The Wavell School, Lynchford Road, Farnborough GU14 6BH. Saturdays 14, 21 and 28 November and 5 December 2026, from 12:30–2:00pm.

What if we need to cancel?

Cancellation and refund conditions apply. Please read VbDC’s full terms and conditions before booking, and contact the organisers if you need clarification about your taster or series booking.
